One
visits this museum to see Monet in depth. The more than 130 Monet
paintings on exhibit were a gift from the artist’s son. The
museum contains an outstanding collection of his waterlily paintings, as
well as his more abstract repesentations of the Japanese Bridge at
Giverny. There are also paintings of his Impressionist Friends collected
personally by Monet. In recent years, several of the paintings
were stolen, including “Impression, Sunrise”, the painting that gave
the Impressionism Art Movement its’ painting style and subsequent
artistic movement. It has now been returned. |
